Apprenticeship builds a career for Matthew

Matthew Cook is building a promising career through his Level 2 Brickwork Apprenticeship and has impressed his employers at A.J. Hunter Building Contractors.

Since beginning his Apprenticeship in 2014, Matthew has worked on a range of domestic property projects, including the creation of a Clipsham stone wall at a site in Werrington.

Matthew said: “Stone wall work is completely different in that you have to look at what you’ve already put down and plan ahead due to the variety of shape and size of the stones.”

Prior to taking the Apprenticeship, Matthew had worked as a conveyancer in an estate agent’s office and he is thoroughly enjoying his new working environment.

Matthew said: “It’s great to have the time on-site to work on real projects to practice the skills I’m learning at College.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work for the company after I complete the Apprenticeship this summer and progress further in my career.”

A.J. Hunter owner, Tony Hunter, said: “Matthew has really taken to the role and coped excellently with the change from office to site.”

“He has a great work ethic, pays attention to detail and provides a very good standard of customer service.”
