Fitness fundraiser supports learners’ enterprise project

A group of Business and Sports learners at Huntingdonshire Regional College have teamed up with the National Citizen Service and NXG, a Youth Services provider, to create a business as part of an enterprise project.

The result is Bare Fitness, a company that offers fitness training and tips.

The service was launched at the College this week, delivering Circuits sessions and fruit smoothies for other learners at the College, following a planning stage that involved teambuilding exercises and meetings to create a business plan.

Leon Walker, an HRC learner and member of the Bare Fitness team, said: “The slogan for our company is ‘Strength, Confidence, Nutrition’ and these are the things we want to offer to our customers.”

Tanaka Mushowira, a youth worker for NXG, added: “The project is as much about developing the learners’ confidence and perseverance as it is about the business they have created.

“We are showing them that success comes through hard work and dedication and that is just as important as talent and ideas.”
