HRC learners benefit from Magpas work experience

Two Business learners from Huntingdonshire Regional College recently joined the fundraising department at Magpas, a local charity, for a six-week work experience placement.

Magpas has been operating for over 44 years and supports the Ambulance Service by providing the Magpas Air Ambulance and a Magpas specialist medical team, despatched to cases of life-threatening illness or major trauma within the East of England.

Dan Buffham and Henry Mann gained valuable experience of working for the diverse regional charity, taking on a variety of different tasks, roles and jobs.

Activities included researching and updating the organisation’s database and archives, and understanding their importance in the work Magpas does in the community.

Dan and Henry also participated in a wide variety of office tasks and assisted in, our charity shop.

A highlight of their placement was joining the fundraising team on visits to Air Ambulance bases and local talks which gave them an insight into community projects and how Magpas raise awareness of their lifesaving role.

A Magpas spokesperson said: “It has been very helpful and good fun, having Dan and Henry working with us; they proved a great help assisting with our workload, as well as joining in with our office tasks and keeping the team on their toes.

“Both Dan and Henry got stuck in and were open and happy to do whatever task we threw at them, and they were great credit to Huntingdonshire Regional College.

“We wish them all the luck for the future as they continue their studies.”
