Huntingdon Library hosts careers information event for parents

Huntingdon Library will host an event next week giving parents the tools to support their children in choosing a career path.

The Careers Hub: Information for Parents (CHIP), a free drop-in session, will be held on Wednesday 9th March, 10am – 7pm.

Several local training providers, including Huntingdonshire Regional College, and employers will be present to offer advice and guidance on pathways into a range of careers and help parents identify the available options.

A programme of presentations and interactive workshops are planned to debunk Apprenticeship myths, help develop CVs and offer job searching tips.

Rachel Carpenter, Huntingdonshire Area Manager for Adult Learning & Skills at Cambridgeshire County Council, said: “Results from the latest health-related behaviour survey undertaken by pupils at school suggested that more than 50% of parents were providing their children with career advice.

“We felt we could support parents to increase their own knowledge of employment and further education opportunities available locally by hosting this free event at Huntingdon Library.”
