Huntingdonshire Regional College blaze a trail for new Apprenticeship standards
Huntingdonshire Regional College shared its pioneering journey in delivering new Digital Industry Apprenticeship Standards to a national audience of 78 delegates from Further Education colleges and independent training providers on 5th May.
HRC, in partnership with Firebrand Training, is one of only a handful of training providers in the UK currently delivering Trailblazer Apprenticeships Standards and the event provided a forum to share its experience with colleagues from other organisations.
Karen Kelly, Head of Employer & Delivery Services for the Skills Funding Agency, said: “This event is credit to the work that Huntingdonshire Regional College and its partner Firebrand is doing in delivering the new standards and managing the Trailblazer funding process.
“It is an example of the FE sector working at its best in terms of peer support, sharing good practice and lessons learnt.”
Presentations were given by HRC’s Apprenticeships and Finance teams detailing the processes and structures required to deliver Trailblazers and delegates received a wealth of information to support them in rolling out the provision.
Trish Wright, HRC’s Head of Partnerships & Projects, said: “The College was privileged to host the event and share our journey with so many colleagues from around the country.
“We are delighted with the positive feedback that we have received from them to date.”
Delegate Tracey Matthews, Director of Apprenticeships at Milton Keynes College, said: “The event was very professionally run and the information provided will definitely save us hours of work.”
Julie Tegg, Head of Apprenticeships and Traineeships at Gloucestershire College, added: “It was a fantastic day, very helpful and informative. Many thanks to everyone involved.”
HRC representatives previously shared their Trailblazer journey in workshop sessions at the Annual Apprenticeship Conference in March and plans are in place to extend provision.
Ms Wright said: “We are looking to continue our successful working relationship with Firebrand and we’re excited about the introduction of new Standards in Infrastructure Technician and Cyber Intrusion Analyst Apprenticeships.”
